positive links between young people and adults and to create positive perceptions about
social participation activities and encourage young people in this regard.
Recommendations for Increasing Youth’s Social Participation and
Conclusion
Through youth participation young people get the chance to learn about community and
its dynamics, to develop themselves in the light of experiences and maximize their trans-
formation, to contribute society with their production or the issues they fix, to expand
their horizon even beyond their imagination and finally to increase social capital that de-
velops community as a whole (Choi Yuen Wan, 2003). On the other hand, if young people
become a part in social groups that share common interests and benefits in public sphe-
re, these chances become contributions and valuable outcomes for society.
However, negative changes in the social participation mechanism debar youth from these
chances or choose staying away consciously. In this context, with this study we offered
an integrated solution model for reducing these negative effects to the lowest possible le-
vel in the short span and reversing them. For this purpose firstly we reviewed the literature
of social participation and then made interviews with 10 young people for collecting data.
In order to be able to benefit from the outcomes of social participation and move to a
healthier social structure “Youth Social Participation Model” is proposed in the light of
relevant literature and the interviews.
