Introduction
Societies and individuals have been interconnected by information and communication
technologies (ICTs), both at the global level and in the local context. Therefore, the 21st
century is considered as a connected age, human network and web society. At this point,
Bell’s post-industrial information society, Castells’ network society and Van Dijk’s con-
ceptions of digital society point out the very existence of a new understanding of the
emergent networks and connected individuals. According to Castells (2008, pp. 620-
625), key elements that characterize today’s society are information technology, Internet
and information networks that embrace the world. Multiple nodes linked to each other
form networks which create constructs expanding in space without being subject to any
