Introduction
Empathy, being the basis of human relations and communication, is the replacement
of oneself with another person, understanding the distinctive character, emotions and
thought, and expressing them (Dökmen, 1994, p. 134-175). Staub (1987) highlights the
two aspects of empathy as cognitive and emotional. Cognitive aspect is to understand
how the other person may feel considering an incidence or situation, and being aware of
these feelings. Emotional aspect, on the other hand, is feeling the emotions of the other
person experiencing an incidence and reflecting this to the person (Staub, 1987, p. 195-
217). Dökmen (1994) also supported the multidimensional approach, and mention about
two aspects of this term as empathic tendency and empathic skills. Emphatic skill states
