One of the activities that AYBU Healthy Life Clubplanned to do within the scope of sci-
entific activities was to participate in a health-related congress, conference or sympo-
sium together with club members and students of nursing department. In professional
vocational training; beside knowledge, skills, attitudes, behaviors, decision making,
application strength and evaluation, it is also very important to follow the latest de-
velopments in scientific meetings such as courses, symposiums and congresses
(Hindistan, Güner and Bayrak, 2017). Within this scope, the first scientific activity of
the club was attending to the “Professionalism in Nursing” Symposium organized by
Başkent University and Student Nurses Association (ÖHDER).A total of 65 students,
including club members and nursing students attented to this Symposium. Profes-
sionalism in nursing, expectations from students on the way to professionalization,
responsibilities and motivation for individual and professional development, special
branch nursing, career planning from academics’ and students’ views are discussed
at the symposium. The head of Nursing Department and AYBU Healthy Life Club
advisor Assistant Professor Birgül ÖZKAN also took place as a speaker and made
a presentation on “Place and importance of research in nursing”. There is a need for
research results and evidence-based practices in increasing the quality of care in the
field of health care. For this reason, it is important for students to follow the results of
evidence-based studies that will support the development of professional skills during
their university education, which is one of the first steps in professional development
(Hindistan et. al., 2017). These scientific conferences contribute to the development
of students’ academic life and to an increase in the level of expertise in important

Career planning and career development is a necessary and important tool in the
development of nurses professionally. Career planning helps nurses maintain their
individual and professional development as well as adapt to changes in their work
and personal life. As in every occupation, job satisfaction is adversely affected when
nurses begin working somewhere without planning it. This affects the quality of life
of both the nurses and the community negatively. This negatively affects the quality
of life of both the nurses and the community. Individuals who have acquired or will
have a vocational nursing profession that has an important place in the development
of community health need to plan their careers so that they can fully fulfill the require-
ments of the profession (Arslan and Özsoy, 2013).Hence, “Career Days in Nursing”
was organized on April 12, 2017 in cooperation with Ankara Yildirim Beyazit Univer-
sity Healthy Life Club and Ankara Yildirim Beyazit University Health Sciences Faculty
