Summary
The rising penetration of the Internet in the World and Turkey provides a lot of opportuni-
ties. One the most important opportunities of the Internet is in the domain of political par-
ticipation, especially in countries like Turkey, characterizerd with very low level of political
participation. These opportunities may have crucial roles in contributing the quality of Tur-
kish democracy and closing the democratic deficit in the country. Recent data shows that
about 90 percent of Turkish youngsters have Internet access whereas political participati-
on scores over the Internet are very low. Our objective in this article is to discover political
participation patterns of Turkish youth over the Internet and understand the determinants
of these patterns; based on the analysis of the dataset of 1804 face to face interviews
conducted in Turkey with a sample representing Turkish youth between 18-29 ages.
