Exploitation of Religion
Religious abuse, that is the exploitation of religion is among the most serious types of
abuse in which young people are the object of abuse. The exploitation of young people
through religion is a very hurting abuse.
Youth as a Object of Leisure and Entertaiment
The ways to value leisure time (Okumuş, 2014b) are based on consumption that moder-
nity brings, and sometimes even imposes upon, and makes young people an object of
leisure time and fun.
Directly Ethical Abuse
Youth is exposed to ethical exploitation directly in the world of today’s global interactions.
Various ethical views on behalf of religion, ideology, entertainment, fun, happiness, beauty,
freedom, peace, hostility, war, etc. can manipulate and exploit young people through ethics.
Youth in the Vice of Globalization, Moral Crisis and Uncertainity
Secularization is highly influential in young people’s unrelated, loose, “irresponsible” be-
havior. Modern youth has been almost inevitably clamped down in the atmosphere of a
ethical crisis and uncertainty. Secularization and the lack of purpose are important factors
in the ethical crisis of youth.
Youth in Virtual Sociological Worlds
Looking at the data of the sociology of internet, it can be stated that a considerable part
of the time of today’s youth has passed in digital or virtual worlds on the internet. Young
people can enter into very different interactions in virtual sociological worlds, depart from
real social interactions and exist with virtual realities.
In this context, one of the most important points is, of course, ethics. It is possible to
talk about a virtual moral/ethical situation on the Internet. The ethics leads to important
changes, paradoxes, tensions in the young people’s views of life, social relations, family
relations, approaches to social norms, understandings of respect and love.
Paradoxical Situation in Youth’s Ethics
The moral or/and ethical conditions listed above and tried to be evaluated in young pe-
ople do not reveal a very clear picture. Looking at the attitudes of young people towards
local, national and global events, it can be observed that at certain times and in certain
situations, their ethical sensitivities and postures are very clearly presented in contrast
to their attitudes towards other subjects in different times. For example, in the point of
issues such as problems, wars, terrorism, coup brought by globalization, youth sensitivity
can be seen around the world.
