Examination of Opinions on Reducing Young People’s Election Age To 18
JOURNAL OF YOUTH RESEARCHES
many different ways, faces a problem like the age limit in the political arena. The use
of the concept of will in the constitutional framework is the age of 18. The right to use
one’s free will in constitutional base corresponds to the age of 18. This limit should
also have the use of the right of candidacy. Youth is a period that has dynamism,
vitality, power, erosion of hope for the future, excitement and physical aspects at the
highest level but experience. Open-mindedness and the thoughts about the future
of our youth will contribute significantly to our country and nation. The Republic was
entrusted to the Turkish Youth by our Great Leader. This youth will fulfill the duty that
it has in the parliamentarian staff as it does for every aspect.”
From Ahi Evran University, Ertan expressed his views as follows:
“We see that the use of free will of the youth increases the consciousness of respon-

Istanbul at the age of 14 and to cherish our mighty nation who stopped the tanks in
the ages from 7 to 70 on July 15th. We, who are given the right to be candidates at the
age of 18, are the Turkish youth who grow up against those who do not tolerate the
situation. In the light of Hak to the right with viöctories… ‘’
Bi-directional Opinion on Lowering the Age of Candidacy to 18
Six of the participants have both positive and negative views on lowering the age

Beyazıt University have two-way views.
‘Hamit’ from Ahi Evran University expressed his views as follows:
‹› I suppose it very necessary and nice. Because in developed countries the age of
candidacy is low. But since I do not think it will be implemented in our country, I im-
agine it as an unnecessary decision. The previous age of candidacy was 25. But in
the Turkish Grand National Assembly there were no deputies and candidates at the
