JOURNAL OF YOUTH RESEARCHES
is seen in the sectors with the lowest socio-economic levels and in sectors in upper
socio-economic levels, the behavior of not conforming to the social norms is more liber-
alized.
Conclusion and Suggestions
In the research, Intergenerational Normative Solidarity and Conventional Solidarity, Age,
Supporting Parent/Grandparent (Functional Solidarity), parent/grandparent education sta-
tus-being undergraduate and postgraduate, number of sisters, employment status-being
not-employed, parent/grandparent education status-being high school graduate, gender
being female and the number of brothers were found statistically significant. While the
most important factor affecting Intergenerational Normative Solidarity is Conventional
Solidarity (β=0,219), other factors were found to be, respectively, Age, Supporting Parent/
Grandparent (Functional Solidarity), parent/grandparent education status-being under-
graduate and postgraduate, number of sisters, employment status-being not-employed,
parent/grandparent education status-being high school graduate and gender-being fe-
male and number of brothers.
In the light of the results obtained from the research, important tasks fall into policy mak-
ers, educators, researchers, municipalities and non-governmental organizations to in-
crease the intergenerational solidarity in families. Programs and projects should be de-
veloped and implemented on a regional and social basis with the joint efforts of all these
shareholders in the direction of reinforcing and maintaining the intergenerational soli-
darity. Projects and studies that will bring together the generations, increase the sharing
among the generations, and solve the problems and conflicts that can be experienced
between generations should be sustained by various civil and official institutions. Thus,
the awareness of intergenerational will be ensured, and intergenerational solidarity will
be improved with all dimensions. The development of intergenerational solidarity will en-
sure that the quality of life of all generations, thus the quality of the life of the family, is
increased and the family unity is strengthened. This approach and policies are of great
importance in contributing to the prosperity of the society.
